4th grade Homeroom Service Learning Project

"The Powers is Ours"
was our motto and we are proud to say we have successfully completed our mission. Students in Mrs. Nichols homeroom planned for and created a dinner for Cinco de Mayo, which was served at a local food bank. Community members were treated to a yummy dinner that consisted of: Enchildada bake, Spanish rice, tortilla chips/salsa, fruit medley, dessert, and drinks.

In addition, students also worked individually or teamed together to continue their service efforts for the community. Be looking for our powerpoint presentation which shows off our "Creative Solutions" efforts to make a difference in our community this summer. The presentation will be posted soon.

A documentary film crew studying HUNGER IN AMERICA visited our classroom and our community in both April and May.  We shared our presentations and interviewed with them to share with others more about our innovative efforts on May 14th. The film crew also met with our cafeteria staff to learn more about lunch programs and the nutritious meals being served.

Special thanks to our principal, Mrs. Mease, superintendent, Mr. Randall, elementary teachers, and our families for their support.

If you are interested in learning more, please stop by, we'd love to share.
