HOMEWORK POLICY

This is just a "policy", exceptions are the norm!
Please contact me with any questions.

Students in my homeroom are encouraged to read 20 minutes each night.  I would like them to read "good fit" books they enjoy and develop a love for, and habit of, reading.

Students should have approximately 10-15 minutes of math homework daily.  This should be practice they are able to complete independently.
If they are having problems with homework, or it is habitually taking more than 20 minutes for them to complete their homework, please contact me so I can help them.

We typically have one spelling sheet each day for homework.  The students have become really good about using their extra minutes in class and usually complete this in school.  If you are not seeing spelling homework - it's probably a good thing :-)  Please contact me with any concerns.

3RD GRADE HOMEROOM
We are currently doing a genre study with Miss Walsh while Mr. Hill works with Miss Walsh's homeroom on cursive handwriting using the "Handwriting without Tears" curriculum.

3RD/4TH MATH FLOOD
In math flood, Mr. Hill's and Mrs. Morse's groups are in Mr. Hill's room.
Currently, all students are working on Acc. Math.  They should be working 10 minutes independently on this in the evenings IF they don't have other math homework.  If they are experiencing difficulty, please have them stop and send me a note so that we can help them.

3RD/4TH READING FLOOD
We just finished Misty of Chincoteague and Hatchet.  We are going to start The Star Fisher by Laurence Yep this week.

3RD/4TH MATH ROTATION
Both 3rd and 4th graders are working on fractions for the next few weeks.

Thanks!
